(UNDATED) - A driving nightmare brought Hoosier motorists to a standstill on roads this past Tuesday.
Freezing rain moved into Central Indiana during the early afternoon hours. INDOT sent nearly 60 trucks out during the noon hour and the city's department of public works had 75 trucks out. Unfortunately, when traffic came to a standstill those trucks couldn't do their job.
There was no way area police departments could keep up with the number of crashes and slideoffs that occurred.
It was bad enough on city streets, but the interstates brought flashes of the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still".
And now that it's behind us The National Weather Service says we can look forward to a Christmas Day with no precipitation.
