(UNDATED) - The number of homeless people finding shelter this holiday season is skyrocketing in Indiana.
The Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis has been regularly serving 250 men in a facility designed to house 144.
Spokesperson Steve Kerr says shelters are in desperate need of cash donations. Five dollars covers three prepared meals for the homeless at wheeler.
Kerr says the shelter expects to serve 300,000 meals before the end of the year.
He says the shelter is also in need of canned foods, socks and other donations.
