(UNDATED) - More than 1,100 Hoosier soldiers will be serving their country overseas this Christmas.
And although it's a time of cheer, Christmas also means time away from family members for those soldiers abroad.
Indiana National Guard Staff Sgt. Jeff Lowry says some find comfort by spending time with their comrades. He says others receive holiday packages from friends, family, churches and other well-wishers.
The soldiers will participate in a big celebration at base camp with a meal that includes ham, turkey and sweet potatoes.
