(UNDATED) - For weeks, wave after wave of Indiana National Guard soldiers have been returning home from serving in Iraq.
About 3,300 Hoosier guardsmen have been away from their families and friends and serving nine-months for their country. They were all part of the largest Hoosier troop deployment since the end of World War II.
The final 20 members of the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team returned home this week, aboard three flights that touched down at Indianapolis International Airport. Two members of the 76th Infantry Group did not make it home, they were killed on tour.
About 500 Indiana National Guard soldiers are still in Iraq, serving in other units.
