(INDIANAPOLIS) - Last week’s Mumbai, India terrorist attack has some people wondering what is stopping groups from carrying out similar attacks in Indianapolis.
Public Safety Director Scott Newman says cities can plan responses all day long. He says the key is to identify threats and risks that are real in the community.
But he says most important, is having personnel, training, equipment, and policies, so that police are ready when something happens.
Newman says Indianapolis does not have an elite unit to respond to Mumbai-style attacks, but says every police officer is trained in active shooting and policies.
