(UNDATED) - That $57.6 million dollar Powerball jackpot from last month has finally been claimed, but we still won’t know who the winner is.
Andrew Reed with the Hoosier Lottery says it's apparently more than one person because they've formed a limited liability company based in Indianapolis. To maintain their anonymity, the group's lawyer and accountant validated the winning Powerball ticket at Hoosier Lottery headquarters Tuesday afternoon and took the cash option of $30.8 million.
Reed says the lottery always advises players to get legal and financial advice before claiming their prize money, which is what these winners did.
The owners of the Downtown Indianapolis gift shop where the winning ticket was purchased on November 22 also received a $100,000 bonus check from the Hoosier Lottery Tuesday morning. Retailers selling jackpot winning Powerball or Hoosier Lotto tickets get a one percent jackpot bonus that's capped at $100,000.
There's still one more unclaimed jackpot. Someone holding a $6 million Hoosier Lotto ticket drawn on December 6th has yet to come forward. The ticket was purchased at a retail store in Cambridge City.
