(UNDATED) - The state is experiencing a rise in whooping cough.
Severe cases of whooping cough, also known as pertussis, can lead to pneumonia, seizures and sometimes death.
Health officials typically see a spike in cases every three to five years.
Through December 1 statewide, 100 cases had been confirmed. 68 cases were confirmed in the state last year.
