(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana is in line to collect $3 billion of President-elect Barack Obama’s $825 billion stimulus package.
$800 million is ticketed for education, enough for a 6% increase in a budget Governor Daniels had proposed to flat line.
Obama's also targeting money for Medicaid and public works projects, with the possibility of reserving some of that money for local governments.
Daniels and House Speaker Patrick Bauer (D-South Bend) find a rare point of agreement there, with both vowing to route some of the money to counties, cities and towns, whether the government requires it or not.
