(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police in Indianapolis are posting enhanced video from security cameras—showing crimes in progress—on “YouTube.”
This is being done in only a few other cities around the country--Cincinnati and Milwaukee for example.
The department's been getting identification of suspected criminals about 40 percent of the time, just by handing out still photos. Investigators hope to improve the rate of success with one of the web's most heavily viewed sites airing these videos.
The internet "wanted posters" are also being carried about 250 times a week by channel 16, the local public access cable channel. And soon, there'll be a number set up for taking anonymous text messages from tipsters.
