(UNDATED) - Indiana’s Amber Alert network for missing children could be joined by Silver Alerts for missing senior citizens.
At least eight states broadcast Silver Alerts when people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia wander off.
There's not much data on how often those alerts occur, although Texas has averaged about one a week.
AARP Associate State Director Paul Chase says the system would have the same benefit as the Amber Alert: it makes the public the ally of the authorities in trying to find someone quickly.
A senate committee heard testimony but wants to weigh possible changes before voting.
