14-Year-Old Autistic Student Tased By Police

Last updated on Saturday, February 21, 2009

(CARMEL) - A lawsuit just filed against the Carmel police department and local school corporation claims a 14-year-old autistic boy was tased during an outburst at school.

Ron Fraiser, the attorney representing the family, spoke about the lawsuit.

According to the suit, the child was knocked unconscious after being tased twice march 11, 2008.

The boy's outburst reportedly followed his being sent to detention for being late to school.

However, Fraiser points out the student's mother called the school to notify them that her son would be late for classes.

Carmel Clay superintendent Barbara Underwood would not comment on pending litigation.

The attorney says the school should have followed the student's intervention plan.
