(RUSHVILLE) - Indiana conservation officers are investigating a snowmobile accident that claimed the life of an 8-year-old boy in Rush County Sunday afternoon.
The victim is identified as David Workman of Rushville. It's not clear yet whether charges might be filed.
Officers say the boy was riding the 1998 Polaris snowmobile with his father, 41-year-old Robert Workman. The vehicle hit a tree in the yard of their home in Rushsville.
The accident is still under investigation, but it's believed that limited experience may have played a factor.
David workman was transported to Rush County Memorial Hospital by ambulance were he was pronounced dead. Neither he nor his father was wearing a helmet.
A helmet is not required on private property.
