(UNDATED) - The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence is responding to the recent arrest of R&B artist Chris Brown for the alleged attack on his pop star girlfriend, Rihanna.
Training Director Caryn Burton says the high-profile incident comes on the heels of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week.
She says the incident is opening up area discussions about domestic violence, particularly among middle and high school students. Burton hopes the case will encourage victims to come forward and seek help.
Burton worries that some teens view Brown as a role model, but also notes that Rihanna serves as one as well.
65 domestic violence deaths were reported last year in Indiana.
