(JEFFERSONVILLE) - The families of two Jeffersonville police officers injured in an ambush shooting updated the community on the status of their loved ones Monday.
Officer Keith Broady suffered a gunshot wound near the chest area, which injured several of his organs. Corporal Daniel Lawhorn lost a significant amount of blood after two bullets hit his leg, striking the femoral artery.
Both men are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Officer Broady has a two-year-old daughter and his wife, Kristen, is expecting a baby boy in three months. Corporal Lawhorn and his wife, Dana, have a 23-year-old son. The officers were reunited for the first time Sunday since the night of the shooting.
It was a tearful reunion as the two partners greeted one another. Family members say the officers "will forever be brothers." Meanwhile, a man that was questioned and released following the shooting has been arrested on charges related to the case.
19-year-old Kyle Bieber is charged with assisting a criminal. Police say 37-year-old Robert Datillo shot the officers last Thursday evening.
Datillo eventually took his own life after a standoff with police that lasted more than 10 hours.
