(LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA) - An Indiana man has pleaded no contest to recklessly starting a 2007 wildfire that threatened the town of Avalon on Santa Catalina island off the coast of Southern California.
51-year-old Gary Hunt entered the plea in Long Beach Superior Court on Wednesday and will be sentenced in May to three years in state prison.
Hunt was working as a subcontractor when he used an open-flame torch to cut cables on the island's radio tower.
