(EVANSVILLE) - The Indiana Department of Transportation wants to delay construction of two ramp systems on the Interstate 69 extension project in Southern Indiana.
Agency Spokesman Bruce Childs tells the Evansville Courier & Press that the delay is necessary to build a section of I-69 between Oakland City and Crane within the $700 million funding available. He says the interchanges in Northern Pike and Southern Daviess counties could be built later.
There will be two other exits to serve area traffic, at Indiana 61 near Petersburg and US 50 near Washington.
The plans for the highway will be finalized after public hearings scheduled for next month.
