(UNDATED) - President Barack Obama’s budget plan seeks 475 million dollars for a Great Lakes cleanup plan.
The spending blueprint released Thursday includes a Great Lakes restoration initiative led by the environmental protection agency, targeting some of the region's most pressing environmental problems that include invasive species, runoff pollution and contaminated sediments.
The money is reportedly a down payment toward Obama's campaign pledge to pump five billion dollars into great lakes restoration.
