(UNDATED) - The Indiana Finance Authority, which manages a revolving loan fund for local water and sewer projects, has released a list of 12 projects ready to be put up for bids, in anticipation of the arrival of stimulus money.
Nearly half the $36 million in that first round would go to sewage treatment plants in Brownsburg and Peru.
The House version of the stimulus package set aside $168 million for Indiana water and sewer projects.
The state is also racing to compile lists of university construction projects which could launch quickly.
Long says he's written Indiana's congressional delegation urging them to seek authorization to spend some of the stimulus to stabilize the state's bankrupt unemployment insurance trust fund.
And Hershman says he hopes some of the money can pay for job training and retraining.
