(INDIANAPOLIS) - Faced with dramatic state tourism budget cuts and the declining economy, the state’s Convention and Visitors Bureaus has announced a statewide awareness campaign to encourage Hoosiers to travel in-state this year.
ICVB President Jim Epperson says now is the time to support the state's tourism industry. One in ten jobs in Indiana depends on tourism and travel.
The industry is concerned about the impact of a proposed 50% reduction in the state's tourism budget and the impact it will have on Indiana travel, in addition to economic pressures placed on Hoosier families.
The campaign was announced this week during the 2009 Hoosier Hospitality Conference in Indianapolis.
