(LOUISVILLE, KY) - Katie McCoy has been found not guilty of murdering her newborn baby.
A Jefferson County jury deliberated for less than four hours before returning a verdict in the case of the former Bellarmine University student-athlete accused of killing her newborn daughter in 2007.
The Plainfield, Indiana woman was acquitted of murder, as well as lesser charges of manslaughter and reckless homicide.
The jury convicted McCoy of tampering with physical evidence for trying to hide the dead infant's body in her dormitory.
