(GREENCASTLE) - The pilot of a small airplane was injured when it crashed shortly after take-off from the Putnam county airport in Greencastle Saturday morning.
State police say 80-year-old Walter Fritz of Indianapolis, who was flying solo, suffered several broken bones and cuts to the head following the crash in an open farm field.
Fritz was airlifted to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis.
The NTSB is investigating the crash.
