(STATEHOUSE) - Starting this summer, your check from your health insurance could come with a warning not to spend it.
The Senate has voted to require PPO's who send checks directly to patients instead of providers to include a large-print notice stating that the money is intended to cover the insured portion of their doctor's bill.
Doctors had pushed earlier this session to let patients ask that the money be sent directly to providers.
Some PPO's have begun limiting that service to in-network providers.
