(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis is now the home of the largest Samaritan’s Feet warehouse.
That's because for over a year, IUPUI Head Basketball Coach Ron Hunter and other coaches raised over three million pairs of shoes through their barefoot coaching efforts. Over half a million of the shoes are warehoused on the northwest side of Indy.
Inmates from the Plainfield re-entry educational facility are unloading trucks, sorting and processing the shoes, getting them ready for distribution in Indiana and around the world.
Now Coach Hunter is asking for five dollar donations to samaritansfeet.org to help ship the shoes where their needed around the world.
Hunter was the first to coach a basketball game barefoot over a year ago to get shoes donated to Samaritan's Feet which helps the world's 300 million children who don't have shoes.
