(STATEHOUSE) - Prevent Child Abuse Indiana has decorated the statehouse grounds with 1,001 blue pinwheels to mark the start of child abuse prevention month.
PCA-IN plans forums, health fairs and other events around the state this month, all aimed at calling attention to abuse and the organization's resources devoted to stopping it.
Activities actually began on Tuesday with proclamations from the Mayors of Kokomo and Peru, followed by a candlelight vigil in South Bend on Wednesday.
Governor Daniels joined PCA leaders in Indianapolis for the formal kickoff.
He says the state mustn't rest until it reaches what he calls the admittedly impossible goal of keeping every child safe.
