(STATEHOUSE) - It’s been more than ten years since Conseco executive Lawrence Inlow was laid to rest after being killed by a helicopter blade, but his widow and children continue to fight over funeral expenses.
Both sides made their case Thursday before the Indiana Supreme Court at the statehouse. Inlow's second wife, Anita, claims his children from a previous marriage shouldn't have been able to use money from a wrongful death settlement to reimburse her after she covered the nearly $300,000 cost.
But their attorney argues his clients used estate money before dipping into settlement dollars.
The wrongful death settlement gave Inlow's widow and their young son, Jesse, control of about $885,000.
Inlow's older children were given his estate once worth an estimated $100 million.
