(INDIANAPOLIS) - Organizers say an estimated 1,000 Hoosier veterans turned out for “Operation: Hire a Hoosier Vet.”
The career fair left little space to spare in Hangar #9 at Stout Field in Indianapolis. Spokesman Roger Peterman says a lot of Hoosier veterans lost their jobs while in service to their country.
Now, they're coming home from Afghanistan or Iraq to find new jobs are hard to find. But Peterman says the employers who gathered for the career fair have acknowledged that veterans make good employees.
"They're self motivators and they're dependable," he said.
