(LOWELL) - An autopsy will be conducted this morning on the body of man who was killed when a 10-foot-deep trench he was digging collapsed on him Friday.
47-year-old Michael Faherty of Valparaiso, and his co-worker were digging the trench together when the accident occurred.
Police say Faherty's co-worker was able to get out of the trench, and tried to dig Faherty out but was unsuccessful.
It took fire and rescue officials four hours to get him out of the trench.
Officials from the Indiana occupational health and safety administration are investigating the collapse.
