(CRAWFORDSVILLE) - A head-on crash on IN-47 in Parke County claimed the life of a Crawfordsville man.
17-year-old F.N. Lutz III of West Lafayette veered into the opposite lane while looking down to try to retrieve a cell phone.
22-year-old Kevin Boicourt attempted to avoid the collision by moving into the opposite lane, but at that time Lutz corrected his error and both vehicles collided nearly head-on. A passenger in Boicourt's vehicle, 26-year-old Chad Simmons died at the scene.
The crash closed IN-47 for almost five hours.
