(UNDATED) - The state is celebrating Wind Energy Week.
Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held today for the Meadow Lake Wind Farm, a 200-megawatt project near Chalmers in White County.
Construction of the first phase of the wind farm will create about 400 temporary jobs and 20 permanent, full-time jobs. Groundbreaking activities are also planned Friday for the Hoosier Wind Farm, a 106-megawatt development, northeast of Fowler in Benton County.
A report from the American Wind Energy Association shows Indiana has the fastest growth of wind power in the United States. In Benton County, both the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm near Fowler and Benton County Wind Farm near Earl Park are generating electricity.
