(INDIANAPOLIS) - Eli Lilly’s employees are celebrating the company’s second annual global day of service today.
Lilly is partnering with 60 organizations to complete more than 50 community projects in central Indiana.
The 2008 event generated almost 30-thousand hours of volunteer time in a single day toward community improvement projects.
Last year's signature service project was a 1,230 foot long mural on Madison Avenue in Indianapolis.
It earned a Guinness World Record for the longest paint-by-number in the world.
This year's project involves completely transforming a key I-70 gateway into Indianapolis from the airport.
The global day of service is worldwide as more than 20 thousand Eli Lilly employees from the U.S. to New Zealand participate.
