(INDIANAPOLIS) - A police action shooting on the Westside of Indianapolis leaves one man dead. Metro Police say they were called to a house near 11th and Centennial last night about 10:00 pm.
Officers found a 48 year-old man wielding a machete. Sgt. Matthew Mount says the emotionally ill man was ordered to drop his weapon, but did not listen to the orders and got too close to police.
An officer shot the man in the head. He died shortly before 11:00 pm at Wishard Hospital.
Police have not identified the man shot or the officer who shot him.
However, police have said the officer involved in the shooting is a seven year veteran of the force with a good service record.
