(COLUMBUS) - A search warrant payed off big time in Columbus on Thursday evening.
Narcotics officers from Columbus Police Department, Seymour Police Department, Indiana State Police and agents from the FBI New Albany office, served search warrants which resulted in the arrest of eight suspects and seizure of over 400 pounds of marijuana, $30,000 in cash, numerous weapons, and five vehicles.
The Columbus Police Department's Swat Team was also called to assist in order to minimize potential threats to the safety of the public and officers on scene.
The investigation leading to these arrests was initiated with a citizen's complaint, several months ago.
While pursing this tip, the enormity of the drug involvement became quickly apparent increasing the urgency for completion of the investigative process.
This case remains open as further arrests are anticipated.
