(STATEHOUSE) - Instead of replacing the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home with a National Guard program, house budgeters have proposed doing both.
That would add two-million dollars to the 10-million-dollar cost of operating the children's home.
The amendment by Greenfield Republican Bob Cherry would transfer control of the home from the State Health Department to the Department of Education.
The vote was 21-4, with six republicans joining all the committee's democrats in approving the measure.
