(STATEHOUSE) - It’s been the mostly unspoken issue in the background of the legislature’s special session.
But as final budget negotiations begin, some lawmakers are asking for help for Indiana casinos.
Senate President Pro Tem David Long vowed before the session to kill any gambling bill, and has accused gambling lobbyists of trying to hold the budget hostage.
But legislators whose districts include casinos argue gambling delivers millions to the state treasury, and if Indy's Capital Improvement Board can get help with its problems on that basis, casinos should too.
