(INDIANAPOLIS) - Today is the anniversary of one of the most devastating mass murders in the history of Indianapolis.
The Hamilton Avenue murders happened in the evening hours of June 1st 2006.
Seven family members were killed including three young boys during the mass murder on Indy's east side.
Family friends arrived on the scene and found the bodies, that's when two men were seen fleeing through the front door.
Police quickly identified Desmond Turner and James Stewart as suspects.
Stewart was arrested the next day. Turner who was on probation at the time became the subject of a manhunt.
He was captured after turning himself in two days later.
Authorities believe Turner and Stewart armed themselves and robbed the house on a false rumor that they would find large amounts of cash and cocaine inside.
The trial was delayed earlier this year for both men who say they are innocent.
In August of 2008 the house on Hamilton avenue was destroyed in an arson attack.
