(UNDATED) - You may be asked your birth date and gender when making an airline reservation.
It's the latest step in the phased-in "Secure Flight" program which transfers responsibility for cross-checking with lists of suspected terrorists from the airlines to the Transportation Security Administration.
The 9/11 commission said the federal government is better suited to the job because it's the government that compiles the watch list.
TSA Spokesperson Ann Davis says the move should "ensure more consistency across the board."
