(WEST LAFAYETTE) - West Lafayette has hired a collection agency to help the city collect about $500,000 in unpaid parking tickets, court citations and utility bills.
City officials say some fines date back to the 1980s.
The West Lafayette Board of Works members approved a contract Monday with Capital Recovery Systems Incorporated to help collect the unpaid money.
The collection agency will likely not begin trying to recover money until sometime in September.
