(INDIANAPOLIS) - From the Indianapolis Zoo to the mountains of Rwanda, Congo and Uganda.
Associate Veterinarian Dr. Jan Ramer is taking a two-year leave of absence to oversee the health of mountain gorillas in those countries.
Ramer began work August 1st, managing seven other vets as well as 15 guards and other caretakers.
The Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project was formed in 1986 to help about 700 endangered mountain gorillas cope with illnesses and injuries caused by humans.
