(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A world-record-setting cyclist from Indianapolis is the latest Hoosier to earn a state historical marker.
The marker for Marshall "Major" Taylor was dedicated Thursday at the intersection of 38th street and the Monon Trail, just south of the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Indiana Historical Bureau spokeswoman Dani Pfaff says Taylor was an internationally famous African American athlete at the turn of the 19th century.
