(LAPEL, IN) - A Madison County man lost his life when he became trapped in a grain silo and was buried beneath the more than 89-thousand bushels of soybeans stored within the structure.
The body of 50-year-old Jim Leach of Lapel was recovered Wednesday night after a 10-hour rescue mission.
Emergency responders punched a hole in the side of the grain silo and used vacuum trucks built to pump sewage to drain the silo.
