(UNDATED) - The national unemployment rate has dropped for the first time in 17 months, but Indiana may or may not follow along.
State-by-state jobless figures will be released later this month. Ball State economist Michael Hicks says Indiana should come out looking good; he says a big factor in the national numbers is the return of some GM and Chrysler plants to active status after months of layoffs, including in Indiana.
Hicks believes the recession has bottomed out and the recovery is underway, but cautions it may take a few months for Indiana to reap consistent benefits."
