(UNDATED) - Indiana played a significant role in the famed underground railroad, a 19th century network that evolved to guide enslaved African-Americans to freedom.
That's why the Friends of the Network to Freedom Association chose to hold their annual summit for the third time in the Hoosier State.
Jeannie Regan Dinius with the DNR's Division of Historic Preservation and Archeology says the meetings tend to focus on the region where the meeting is held.
