(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A solemn ceremony in downtown Indianapolis Wednesday, a reading of all the names of Marion County firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.
A bell tolled as each name was read under a huge American flag held aloft by a pair of fire department ladder trucks.
Surviving family members watched as a firefighter placed a carnation for their loved one at the base of a monument dedicated to the fallen in the Marion County Firefighters Memorial Plaza.
Firefighters also dedicated a plague in honor of Captain Gary Henry, an Indianapolis firefighter who was killed in action in Iraq last year.
