(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The 18th annual Heartland Film Festival is underway in Indianapolis.
87 films are being screened this year including nine with Indiana ties.
Indianapolis Business Journal Entertainment Editor Lou Harry says although Heartland's Films celebrate the positive aspect of life, some of them will put viewers through an emotional wringer.
There are several short films which are being screened together and a few of the festivals' feature-length films have already garnered Oscar buzz.
Screenings are scheduled through Saturday, October 24th at the AMC Castleton Square 14 in Indianapolis and the AMC Greenwood Park 14 in Greenwood.
The festival awards $200,000 in cash prizes and presents its Crystal Heart awards to the top-judged submissions.
