(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Funeral services are planned next Monday for retired General Robert G. Moorhead.
He served during World War II in the US and Europe and then entered the Indiana Army National Guard.
He later became commanding general of the 38th infantry division. In civilian life, Moorhead headed many Indianapolis community organizations and was chairman of the Indianapolis 500 Festival in 1963.
He later helped organize the annual armed forces day celebration at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the mini-marathon.
Brigidier General Stewart Goodwin, Commander of the Indiana Air National Guard, says Moorhead will be buried in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Goodwin says he expects several national figures will attend the funeral since general Moorhead touched many lives in his service to the country and the city of Indianapolis.
