(PORTER, IN) - 106 acres of land have been secured for a new hospital in Porter County.
Tennessee-based Community Health Systems purchased the property to replace the former Porter Memorial Hospital.
Porter Health Systems CEO Jonathan Nalli says the new hospital will be located at the northwest corner of Route Six and 49.
He says the hospital will have 261 private rooms throughout the facility.
Plans for the hospital's intensive care unit, emergency department and operating rooms have also been expanded.
Nalli says the first phase of construction is expected to take two years to complete.
