(EVANSVILLE, IN) - An Evansville mother will spend 35 years in prison for the beating death of her three-year-old son, Kalab Lay.
Amanda Brooks was sentenced Wedenesday in Vanderburgh Superior Court after pleading guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in death in and felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age.
The second charge was related to the physical abuse suffered by Kalab's twin sister, Kayla.
The twins' father, Terry Lay, is also charged in connection with Kalab's death.
