(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A narrow vote keeps Marion County’s smoking ban the same… for now.
The city/county council voted 14-13 to table an ordinance that would have banned smoking in workplaces including bars, clubs and bowling alleys.
Opponents of the more restrictive ban felt it would hurt business.
Those in favor of it were citing workers rights as the main issue.
Tabling the ordinance means it can be discussed later, but can only be brought before the council by a member who originally proposed the ban.
It is not known now if it will be brought back before the council.
