(UNDATED) - Hundreds of clear balloons were released Monday afternoon in the memory and honor of Indiana residents who have battled or are battling lung cancer.
The joint effort by Eli Lilly and the Wellness Community was designed to illustrate the wish for clear lungs and the numbers of people who will be diagnosed and are already battling lung cancer everyday.
US Advocacy Senior Director Linda House says lung cancer kills more people than breast, prostate, and colon cancers combined.
The disease is most often diagnosed in the later stages for only a 41% survival rate.
House says approximately $5,000 Hoosiers currently living with the disease with several more yet to be diagnosed.
November is lung cancer awareness month.
