(UNDATED) - A new Indiana foundation is granting wishes for active duty military personnel much like the make a wish foundation does for terminally ill children.
Jeff Wells, who heads up the non-profit Phoenix Wish 4 Our Heroes Foundation, says unlike many other military charities, they focus on average soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen who need a boost in their military life.
Their first wish was granted to a soldier based in Ft. Hood, Texas.
He got $3,500 in repairs for his truck and a $1,000 in grocery store gift cards for his family of six.
People are asked to go online to www.wish4ourheroes.org and make a wish or look over the wishes to be granted.
The foundation is funded through the greenwood-based phoenix group and also accepts donations online through Paypal.
Wells is hoping the foundation can grant its next wish to a Hoosier soldier.
